Comes a time you’ve gotta get out of your head and just act.
Maybe you want to change careers, start a company, learn to paint, start a relationship, write a book or mount any other potentially transformational endeavor.
Think about it, ponder for a bit, suss out the basics, but then stop talking about it, stop thinking about, stop obsessing about it, get out of your head and just “DO” something about it. Take the first step, imperfect as it may be. Or, in common parlance, “just ship it.”
This is the advice given to nearly everyone. And, it’s solid advice. It gets you out of your cerebral spin-cyle and into the world. It lets you begin to react to actual information, rather than obsessive self-talk. But, there’s a problem. The advice, as given, is only half the equation. In fact, left as is, it may well get you moving faster, but also set you up to fail at something that could’ve been a massive success, had you received part two of the advice.
That’s what we’re talking about in today’s Good Life Project Riff. Going beyond just shipping and embracing a lens on the process that will set you up to make big things happen, especially when the early feedback to your “just ship” efforts isn’t what you’d hoped for.
